David graduated from the University of Queensland in 1961 with an honours science degree, majoring in metallurgy. He was awarded a PhD from the same university in 1966 for research on mineral breakage. In the same year he obtained a BA from Oxford University, where he studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics as the 1964 Queensland Rhodes Scholar.
David initially worked in the aluminium and iron ore industries, before becoming CEO of a finance group in 1976. He has been involved in the mineral sands industry since 1982, when he became CEO of Consolidated Rutile.and was later the foundation director of the Tiwest Joint Venture.
In 1986, he set up his own consulting practice, which in turn became a founder shareholder in TZMI in 1994. Before his retirement from TZMI in 2009, David specialised in marketing, management and strategic overviews of companies and new projects. He had key roles in most of TZMI’s publications.
David Callow
David is a graduate of Cambridge University, who became an Associate of TZMI in 2002, as a European specialist, based in London. He brings to TZMI 38 years of experience in the TiO
2 pigment industry, principally with Tioxide, in marketing roles, but also including being Managing Director of its South African pigment operation. David then joined Kerr-McGee Pigments for several years as Managing Director of its European operations in Germany, Belgium and Switzerland and has served as the chairman of the Titanium Dioxide Manufacturers Association (CEFIC).
